Simplifying K8S Configuration and Better Traffic Management in Kubernetes

July 26, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

We are excited to announce the next San Francisco Kubernetes meetup will be July 26, 2017 at Databricks, Inc. in San Francisco.

If you want to speak or do a 5-min lightning demo, please ping me over meetup or twitter (@baldwinmathew)

6:30 – 7:00 – Social Mixer

7:00 – 7:30 – Miles Yucht – Data Integration between kubectl, bazel, and jsonnet.

As part of the long term goal to contribute to the Kubernetes ecosystem of components and tools, at Databricks we’ve implemented a Python tool called kubecfg to allow us to succinctly describe deployment configurations in a highly modular way. In its current version, kubecfg will compile Jsonnet files using the Python _jsonnet library from Google, accepting command-line arguments to override specific fields in a generated dictionary or to pass arguments to a Jsonnet script that accepts top-level arguments.

7:30 – 8:00 – Mark McBride – TurbineLabs – Beyond Ingresses – Better Traffic Management in Kubernetes

8:00 – 8:20 – Lightning Talks

8:30 – Wrap-Up

Miles Yucht graduated from Princeton in 2015 and has been a software engineer at Databricks for the last year and a half. At Databricks, he has worked on several major infrastructural efforts, including Databricks Community Edition, a free offering of Databricks for developers and students learning about Spark, as well as helping port Databricks to run on Kubernetes. Additionally, he has worked on a number of efforts connected to tooling for interacting with Kubernetes, including developing the Bazel integration for Kubecfg.

Mark McBride is the founder and CEO of TurbineLabs.
